What if the walls could talk about the history of these crumbling castles? They can’t but maybe the Gargoyles can?

This was the concept behind the promo for Great British Castle Rescue a new show on Sky History.

To expand it out I decided, as well as having a crumbling old Gargoyle tell us the story, we would also have a set of rusting armour and a graceful portrait of a previous owner from the height of these Castles histories.

I started by creating images in Google Nano Banana to generate the characters, and camera moves, choosing my favourites to then animate in Google Veo 3.1, bring the characters to life.

This would then bring out the varied histories of the Castle of the week in a way that would engage views and have them book a time to view with Rick Edwards on March the 4th.

Please see some of the concept images I created and the animations below. I have not included the original prompts.

A portrait of a glamourous Georgian Woman, in the corner of a dilapidated Library.

A portrait of a glamourous Georgian Woman in a dilapidated great hall.

A portrait of a glamourous Tudor Woman covered in cobwebs in a dilapidated drawing room.

A lichen cover Gargoyle in a Grotesque style.

A lichen covered Gargoyle in a medieval peasant style.

Concept image of a rusting suit of armour in a Tudor-style hallway.

Shot 1: Our Gargoyle compares his current fate to the real history of Fyvie Castle in Scotland.

Shot 2: Our glamourous painting talks about Gwrych Castle and how it helped in the War effort.

Shot 3: Our suit of armour notices the host of the show has turned up, hoping to turn the fate of this castle around.
